“Connections” is a program for teens with ADHD and/or executive function disorder and designed to support and enhance academic performance. The program addresses common executive function challenges such as getting started, remembering and completing assignments, staying on task, managing time, keeping organized, advocating for oneself, and establishing good study habits and skills, and more.
Wednesday, January 29th, 2020 – Session 1
Self-Awareness: “Knowing Me”. Students will take stock of their strengths, talents, limitations and areas for improvement to be an effective student. We will discuss the ADHD brain and executive functions, and their implications on school success and performance.
Wednesday, February 5th, 2020 – Session 2
Self-Advocacy: “Speaking up”. Students will learn about non-verbal communication and discuss assertive communication styles to advocate confidently for themselves. They will take an assessment to identify their best learning styles.
Wednesday, February 12th, 2020 – Session 3
Self-Management: “Creating Order out of Chaos”. Students will learn about organizing belongings and structuring time using organizational systems and tools to be more productive and efficient.
Wednesday, February 19th, 2020 – Session 4
Self-Management: “Getting the most our time”. Students will learn to plan, prioritize activities and assignments, and address a common problem – procrastination.
Wednesday, February 26th, 2020 – Session 5
Self- Management: “Essential practices for school success”. Students will learn 4 key practices to manage their academic responsibilities.
When and Where:
Every Wednesday evening, starting January 29th to February 26th, 2020 at MedPsych Associates, 545 Island Road, Ramsey
Middle schoolers (6th to 8th grade) – 5:30pm – 6:20pm
High schoolers (9th to 12th grade) – 6:30pm – 7:20pm
$250 for all 5 sessions or $75 for one or more sessions. Space is limited. Sessions will be taught by Carol Eng, M.A. ADHD/Executive Function Coach. Contact email@example.com for more information or to register.
